'Jiinda' printed on stone and framed in reclaimed Australia hardwood, 210 x 300mm.

Jiinda means sister in Gumbaynggirr. Gumbaynggirr people are matriarchal so the women are highly respected. This painting represents the essence of us as women. Our connection to our Mother, the Earth and all it brings, all the elements, water, earth, fire, and wind. It connects to our totems and sense of preservation. The circle in the middle represents our core pure unconditional love, The top circle represents our strength and the bottom our resilience. The women’s symbols either side are women gathering to share knowledge and wisdom. The bottom circles are neighboring tribes with the women coming together to support one another on their unique journey through womanhood.
